meet the doctor

Dr. Pitts was born in Louisiana but grew up in the pineywoods of East Texas. She is a cum laude graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University where she worked as an optometric technician during her years obtaining an undergraduate degree. She moved to Houston to attend the University of Houston College of Optometry where she was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society and graduated magna cum laude.

While in optometry school, Dr. Pitts completed rotations with an emphasis on diagnosing and treating ocular disease such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy in clinics serving the underprivileged around Houston. One of her optometric rotations focused on ocular emergency care of various eye infections and work related eye injuries.

She also had the opportunity to serve on a medical mission to Kenya where the team provided eye exams and glasses to people without access to healthcare. Over the past 10+ years, she has worked in a family practice setting with an emphasis on pediatric vision. She is a member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. Dr. Pitts truly loves treating patients of all ages!

When Dr. Pitts is not at work, she can be found on some kind of crazy adventure trying to keep up with her husband and 3 girls, while simultaneously drinking a cappuccino. She loves to learn and experience other cultures both in the Houston area and around the globe. If she wasn’t an optometrist, she’d be a professional volunteer. You will likely find her teaching an ESL class, combating human trafficking in our city, or advocating for children in the foster care system. She believes life is best lived just off the beaten path.
